About this guide
What we know, and how we know it.
GTA6MAP.GUIDE is an independent guide to Grand Theft Auto VI. It is not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. The goal is simpler than a wiki: answer the questions people have before launch, and mark the difference between a fact and a rumor.
Editorial rules
Every factual claim on the site falls into one of three groups. Confirmed means Rockstar, Sony, Microsoft, or a platform store said it. Reported means a named outlet published it and we could not verify it with the company. Unknown means nobody has said, and the page says so.
We do not publish leaked footage, leaked maps, or leaked story details. When a leaked claim is impossible to ignore, it stays out of the guide or appears with a note that identifies it as a leak. This makes the site less complete than some competitors. It also means the pages should still be correct after launch.
Prices are US dollars unless a page says otherwise. Dates use the reader's local time where the page depends on a clock, and UTC where a table compares regions. The map is a community reconstruction and says so wherever it appears, because a map that looks official is worse than no map.
Images
Screenshots, key art, and edition artwork are the property of Rockstar Games. They are used here for editorial coverage of the game, with a credit on the page and in the image alt text. The site does not claim ownership and does not sell prints or merchandise.
The basemap on the map page is YANIS V17, a community reconstruction made by Yanis and the GTA VI Mapping Community and distributed by GTADB.ORG under CC BY 4.0. The 920 landmarks come from the GTA VI Landmarks dataset by GTADB.ORG and contributors, also CC BY 4.0. We cropped, resized, filtered, and categorized that material. If Rockstar or Take-Two asks for an image to be removed, it will be removed.
Corrections
Facts change quickly before a launch. If a page is wrong, we correct it and update the checked date at the bottom. The date changes when the page changes.
Corrections can go to hello@gta6map.guide.
The limits of pre-launch information
A price, a preload time, or a platform list can change within a week. Each page carries a checked date. When a source changes, the page changes with it. When two sources disagree, the page names both and says which one the conclusion uses.
We do not aggregate rumors into a confident-sounding list. A rumor that cannot be traced to a named outlet and a named source stays out, even if it would fill a section. That rule costs the site some traffic before launch. It also means a reader can check our work without opening twenty tabs.
The same rule applies to numbers. "About twice the size of GTA V" is a comparison, not a measurement. "83 square kilometers" is a measurement of a leak, not of the retail map. "The biggest map Rockstar has made" is marketing. The map page puts those claims side by side and labels each one, because a number without a source is just a number.
If you find a mistake, the correction is simple: change the page, update the checked date, and leave the rest of the guide alone. There is no comments section to moderate and no forum account to create. The site is a reference, not a feed.
One more limit: time. A guide written before launch is a snapshot of a moving target. Rockstar can change a date, a store can change a price, and a patch can change a file size. The checked date on each page is the only promise about freshness. After launch, those dates will matter more than the predictions, and the pages that guessed will be rewritten rather than quietly left online.
What the map is
The basemap on the map page is YANIS V17, a community reconstruction of Leonida. We cropped it to the state, resized it for the web, and placed 22 editorial pins on the places Rockstar has named or shown. The 920 smaller dots come from the GTA VI Landmarks dataset. The page credits YANIS and GTADB.ORG in the map itself, in the section below the map, and here. It is not an official Rockstar map.
Each pin has a status. Confirmed means a Rockstar description, character bio, or official screenshot caption names the place. Shown means the footage shows it but Rockstar has not named it. Reported means the name comes from a location list, a sign, or a second-hand source. The status is more reliable than the coordinate. A confirmed place can still be in the wrong spot.
When the game ships, the in-game map becomes the only map that matters. The plan is to rebuild this page around it, replace the community basemap with the real one, and keep the status field so readers can see which places moved. Until then, the community map is a reading aid and nothing more.
What comes next
After launch, the guide will add pages for the things a map cannot answer: a beginner route through the first few hours, a list of activities by region, and a spoiler-safe mission index. Those pages will be built from the retail game, not from leaks, and they will carry the date they were checked.
The launch page will keep its storage calculator and checklist, but the countdown will become a launch-day log. The editions page will stay useful for late buyers, though the pre-order bonus section will be marked as expired once the window closes. The map page will change the most, because the real map replaces the argument.
Why English
The site is written in English because the searches, stores, and source material are in English. Rockstar's own pages, Sony's preload post, and the platform listings all use English, and translating them twice would add a place for mistakes to hide. Proper nouns stay in English on every page.

Rockstar's own pages are the first source for anything about the game. Store listings are the first source for prices, preload times, and editions. When those two disagree, the page says which one it used.
